Saint Therese Relics to Visit England and Wales in 2009

At the request of Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor and the bishops of England and Wales, the relics of St. Thérèse of Lisieux visited the UK from 16 September to 16 October 2009.

Thousands of people gathered in Cathedrals and churches to venerate the relics, in an atmosphere of joy and excitement. Even the long queues experienced by many, as they waited with other faithful, could be a source of inspiration, and reflection. For those of us fortunate to take part in this historic event, the visit of St Therese to our neighbourhood (for that it was we felt), will leave us spiritually refreshed and renewed.

To date the relics have visited nearly 40 countries around the world, including Brazil, Russia, Kazakhstan, the United States, Ireland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Lebanon and Iraq. Wherever they have gone, many people have experienced conversion, healing, a renewed sense of vocation, and answers to their prayers.
