The Story of Sister Maria Pierina de Micheli

Sister Maria Pierina di Michaeli was a holy nun who died in 1945, was urged in many visions by the Blessed Mother and Jesus Himself to spread the devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus, in reparation for the many insults that Jesus suffered in His Passion, such as to be slapped, spit upon and kissed by Judas, as well as now being dishonoured in many ways in the Blessed Sacrament by neglect, sacrileges and profanations. She was given a medal, which on one side, bore a replica of the Holy Shroud of Turin and the inscription, "Illumina, Domine, vultum tuum super nos." (Psalm 66: "May, O Lord, the light of Thy countenance shine upon us"). On the reverse, was a radient host with the words, "Mane nobiscum, Domine." ("Stay with us, O Lord"). After great difficulties, she obtained permission to have the medal cast. Even the expenses for the casting were miraculously met when she found on her desk an envelope with the exact amount of the bill, 11,200 lire. The evil spirit showed his chagrin and rage at the medals by flinging them down and burning the pictures of the Sacred Face, and beating Sister Pierina savagely. In 1940, when the Second World War had the world in turmoil, Italy saw a wide distribution of this medal. Relatives and friends saw that their soldiers, sailors and aviators were provided with the replica of the Holy Face of Jesus since the medal was already famous for its miracles and countless spiritual and temporal favours. In April 2009 Pope Benedict XVI advanced her beatification process by formally recognizing a miracle attributed to her. She was beatified on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. The dedication from the author is thus: "To you, most Reverend Mother, I humbly offer with the deepest respect this brief biography with the wish that you may be able to see all your daughters following in the footsteps of she who, lover of the Holy Face and the Immaculate, led a life of humble concealment and obedience". The Golden Arrow

The classic autobiography and revelations of Sr Mary of St Peter on devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus, with the Golden Arrow prayer. Sr Marie de Sainte Pierre, a carmetlie nun in Tours, France, reported visions of Jesus and Mary. She said that in 1844 she had a vision in which Jesus told her: "Those who will contemplate the wounds on My Face here on earth, shall contemplate it radiant in heaven." She reported that in her vision, she saw Saint Veronica wiping away the spit and mud from the face of Jesus with her veil on the way to Calvary. She said that sacrilegious and blasphemous acts today are adding to the spit and mud that Saint Veronica wiped away that day. According to Sister Marie of St Peter, in her visions Jesus told her that He desired devotion to His Holy Face in reparation for sacrilege and blasphemy, which He described as being like a "poisoned arrow."
