Details
This book is based on an account published a year after the death in 1853 of Pierre Toussaint: Memoir of Pierre Toussaint, Born a slave in St Domingo, written by Lee, who having known him and and his virtuous and enchanting life, desired to make his life more widely known. With a foreword by Plinio Correa de Oliveira. Now Venerable, Pierre Touissan was born a slave in Haiti in 1766 and moved to New York City with the family of his owner at the time of the French Revolution. Not long after his master died, Pierre secretly supported the impoverished family for twenty years with his earnings as a hairdresser, all the while serving the family as a slave. A touching example of Catholic charity. Illustrated. Note although this is a new book, the binding is rather fragile.
