Virgin and Child Icon - Vladimir - 7 x 9 cm

The Theotokos ("Mother of God") of Vladimir is one of the most venerated Orthodox icons and a fine and early example of the iconography of the Eleusa (tenderness) type. Icon on hollowed-out wood, hand-made using serigraphic (screen-printing) technique. Individual colours are screen-printed, then the icon is hand-finished with imitation gold leaf. These exquisite icons are the next-best thing to full hand-painted icons. Made in Greece, with wax-sealed certificate of authentication on reverse. Suitable for wall-hanging.
